Well, can I add???

I would like to mention the confirmations that Pastor Dean has been preaching on these last couple of weeks from Isaiah.  Last week's "Here I am, Send Me" went right along with the things that were spoken at this year's Leadership Conference.  It was one of those God freaky moments.. (we like those...)

And this week's highlights of how God can use anyone (because we are ALL ministers) to advance the kingdom was awesome too!  God uses people in every day situations to preach the good news, not just from a pulpit.  Dresses them up in doctors, teachers, mechanics, postmen, waitresses..... the list goes on...    A lot of what was emphasized was from our last leader's meeting after the 2nd service.  Can I get an AMEN!

Ms. Jackie,
Here is your AMEN! happy_dance

This week's (Aug 24) was from Is.7 and talked about a king who was worried about more powerful kings and God told Isaiah to tell that first king that it really didn't matter how powerful the others were, they wouldn't be forever.  Additionally Isaiah spoke of the coming of Jesus.  If you are missing this series on Isaiah, you are missing some great preaching.

I know... this week was really good history and visualization.  It's good to put people and places together when learning scripture.  I liked the map.  And the way pastor put places and kings in their places.  It helps with understanding.  Here's to better understanding!!!!

I especially liked how pastor described the mountain peaks and used it to help me understand how things sometimes seemed to jump around b/c the prophet was seeing the whole picture, the judgement and the promise, but the time element was not always apparent.  That description of mountain peaks looking from a distance as one mountain jutting up all jagged, looking like one, but really being a bunch of different peaks miles and miles away from each other gave me such a deeper understanding.

Also liked how pastor put together the kings being shaken like trees by the wind and tied it in to remind us of the word given recently about how we would be trees, planted firm in the gospel and our branches would be a place where people who were experiencing the winds of storms in an uncertain world could grasp onto and we as trees with our roots firmly planted would not be shaken in the storm but rather be a safe place for those people who needed to grasp onto our branches.  Pray that our branches don't break off under the weight and that we are nourished by our savior and able to extend His love and His kingdom to the people.

He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. Is 40:11
